It was warm and sunny, a beautiful autumnal October day. I wandered up the hill and found myself at the sæter (summer farms) above Folldal, Norway. I plopped myself down on the grass, out of the wind, and took out my paper and a pencil. I made a sketch, strolled up the hill to see the higher mountains dusted with snow, and strolled back down the hill to the Artists in Residence apartment. I see the same mountains, in Rondane national park, from the apartment window. I spent the next few days working on this artwork, a larger format than my typical paintings.
