Getting outdoors in Norway is very easy. There are walking and bicycling paths in the city. There so many marked hiking trails in the forest and mountains that you can walk for days and never see another soul. And don’t let winter stop you: In winter there are just as many skiing trails. This is a huge blessing for someone who loves wandering with camera in hand. That said, I need to do a better job.
Part of my work is indoors at a computer going through photos, working on my website, and marketing myself. I haven’t even been doing a good job of that, lately. To be honest, I am not making much money as a photographer because I keep saying yes to other opportunities, other ways to spend time with people. Learning a language is a lot easier when you can talk to someone who is not yourself. I’ve also taken a non-photography job, something I enjoy because it makes someone others’ lives easier and happier.
I will be away from my desk the first three weeks in July, hiking through Norway with my favourite travelling partner; my kind, wise, and patient husband. I look forward to our summer travels and some time together. We’re both ready to enjoy the beauty and quietude of mountain walking and sleeping soundly after a hard day’s work.
